The Ghana Revenue Authority, GRA has stated that it is aiming to generate 80 billion Ghana Cedis in the 2022 financial year.

In 2021, GRA exceeded its revenue target of 57.4 billion Ghana Cedis by raising an additional 0.7 per cent revenue.

Speaking at the 2022 GRA Customs Division’s Management Retreat in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, the Commissioner-General of the Authority, Reverend Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah applauded his staff for exceeding the 2021 target and called on them to explore innovative ways to meet the 2022 target.

Rev. Amishaiaddai also tasked the management to bring new ideas, make use of digitization and among other possible means to enable them to meet the 80 billion Ghana Cedis target.

The 2022 GRA Customs Division’s Management Retreat is under the theme, “Simplification of Customs Procedures in Achieving 2022 Revenue Target”.

The mandate of Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority is to ensure that goods that enter, exit or transit operational areas have duly followed customs processes and procedures in line with the Customs Law, Act 891, and other guiding legislations. Management members are discussing innovative ways the Division can generate 80 billion Ghana Cedis for the 2022 financial year.

The Ashanti Regional Sector Commander of the Customs Division, AC Edmund Augustine Omari, said plans are far advanced to set up an additional checkpoint on the Ejura-Kumasi highway where intelligence gathered confirms that it has become a major smuggling route into the Ashanti Region.

The Commissioner of the GRA Customs Division, Colonel Retired Kwadwo Damoah urged management members to remain resolute in their commitment to achieving the revenue target set for this year.

The Commissioner-General of Ghana Revenue Authority, Reverend Dr. Amisshadai Owusu-Ansah who addressed the participants through virtual communication expressed confidence that the GRA would meet its 80 billion Ghana Cedis revenue mobilization target for 2022 if the staff of the Customs Division pooled their resources to ensure productive work.
