Deputy Regional Minister for Greater Accra, Hon Elizabeth Sackey has sympathized with all victims of the fire outbreak at the Odawna market near the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange in Accra.
“I sincerely sympathize with all of you. We are all in hard times because of the COVID-19 and looking at what has happened to your shops and goods, I deeply say sorry,” She said.
“I know some of you have gone for loans to trade and were looking forward to raise the money for the Christmas. I want you all to know that all hope is not lost yet and we will do everything in our power to help you get back on your feet.” She added.
Hon. Elizabeth Sackey commended the MCE for the Korley Klottey Municipal, for supporting the victims whose shops and goods have burnt and also for listing all the names of the victims because the list will enable them to know the victims whose properties has been lost when sharing the items for them.
“I acknowledge the MCE for everything he has done today for all of you and also giving us the data including your names and photos which will enable us to work on the case at hand. I will keep you updated and I will work hand in hand with the security agencies in order to sort this matter,” She said.
The incident according to an eyewitnesses at the scene said the fire started around 1 am at dawn destroying goods worth thousands of cedis.
Fortunately, there are no casualties but over three hundred shops has been burnt down leaving victims devastated.
