The DNA results for the remaining six victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash have arrived in Ghana from South Africa. The results were officially received by the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

The DNA testing was necessary to confirm the identities of victims whose bodies were severely burnt and unrecognisable after the crash. The tragic incident, which claimed the lives of two Ministers of State and six others, occurred as the dignitaries were travelling to Obuasi to launch a key programme aimed at tackling illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

The arrival of the results paves the way for the final release of the bodies to the families for burial. Authorities have assured that all necessary support will be provided to the bereaved families to ensure dignified funerals for their loved ones.
