The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Godwin Asediba of Media General for winning the prestigious BBC Komla Dumor Award 2025, describing the feat as a source of pride for Ghanaian journalism.

In a statement, the National Executive of the GJA praised Asediba for his consistent demonstration of excellence, innovation, and commitment to impactful journalism. The association said his recognition goes beyond the BBC award, citing his receipt of the Michael Elliott Award for Excellence in African Storytelling and his remarkable performance at the Ghana Journalists Association Awards in recent years.

“These awards are real testaments to your devotion to telling weighty stories that engender change, amplify voices, and contribute to national development,” the statement read. “Winning the various GJA Awards has indeed spurred you on to do more and we encourage other young journalists to strive for excellence at all times.”

The GJA further commended Asediba for projecting Ghana’s journalism on the global stage, expressing confidence that his work will continue to transform lives, influence policy, and enhance the country’s image internationally.

“As you hoist the flag of Ghanaian journalism to the world, we are assured that your work will continue to transform lives, influence policy and project Ghana to the rest of the globe,” the association noted.

The GJA encouraged young journalists to emulate Asediba’s commitment to truth, fairness, and professionalism, emphasizing the need for the media fraternity to uphold high standards in service to Ghana, Africa, and humanity.
