The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), has advised motorists and pedestrians to observe safety measures with the change in the weather pattern.
The Authority said the harmattan being experienced currently often creates visibility challenges for motorists especially at dawn and after sunset.
It, therefore, cautions that driving under the condition is hazardous to road users and requires a lot of tact and good judgment.
The Authority, therefore, advises motorists to use low beam headlights, leave reasonable distance between vehicles, avoid speeding and unnecessary overtaking. It also urges motorists to exercise patience and keep windows and mirrors clean.
The Authority also reminds pedestrians who exercise by walking and jogging to wear reflective clothing to improve their visibility in order to reduce the risk of being knocked down.
