Kazigu Community declared ODF-KNWD

The Kazigu community in the Kasena Nankana West District has been declared   Open Defecation Free, (ODF), under the tireless efforts of the Kazigu Pe Paarekuri Asanchera Aluah the II.

This was made known during their eighth annual Womdia-Abu festival and the 10th Anniversary celebration of his enskinment.

Festivals were celebrated in those days for its significance and in memory of a particular historical event and merry making, but had to bring on board the developmental component to catch up emerging treats.

Womdia-Abu who is not my child is celebrated annually to give thanks to their ancestor for a successful farming season.

In an interview with Radio Ghana, the Chief of Kazigu Pe Aluah indicated that, during his enskinment 10 years ago, he was charged to manage the people with the environment and he has since, together with the elders not relented in their fight against open defecation, sanitation as well as excessive intake of alcohol by the youth.

Pe Aluah explained that, his main headach is the environment and appealed to other Chiefs who were present to collaborate and stop the environmental degradation in the Kasena  Nankana area for our live depend on it.

Speaking on the theme: ‘Religious Unity in Diversity, Role of Chiefs and Religious Leaders in Uniting the Kasena Nankana Area and Ghana as a whole’, the District Chief Executive, (CEO), for Kasena Nankana West, Gerard Ataogye on behalf of the Regional Minister stated that, the theme resonate with a clarion call on our leaders in society to working tirelessly to promoting peace and unity among our leaders irrespective of one’s political, religious and ethnicity along the rich culture and traditions that have been passed on to us by our forefathers toward  the socio-economis development of the region and th country as a whole.

He further encourage the youth to take up technical education in their area of specialization to avoid the over reliance on the public sector for employment, adding that government is committed to providing the needed infrastructure and equipping the technical schools with the necessary resources to enable them function efficiently and effectively as required.
