The MP for Ketu South, Dzifa Gomashie, is calling for the immediate closure of all schools in the Municipality which have been affected by floods.

Madam Gomashie noted that schools in particular, at Agbozume, Klikor, Srohume, and Blekusu should be closed because those communities have been entirely flooded.

The MP lamented the delayed response of NADMO and other government agencies in coming to the aid of the victims.

She said compared to the tidal waves which affected some communities previously, the current situation is severe and on a different level.

Floods in Ketu South:

More than two thousand residents in several communities across the Ketu South Municipalities have been affected by severe floods.

Heavy rains in the last couple of weeks have led to a rise in the water level in the Keta Lagoon leading to its overflow into the neighbouring communities.

Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu, Maxwell Lugudor says he is collaborating with NADMO officials to provide relief packages for the victims. Ketu South, Keta and Anlo constituencies were affected by severe tidal waves about two years ago.

However, Mr. Lugudor said the currently flooded communities are not part of those communities affected by the tidal waves.
