The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), says the passing of the Former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan is not a loss for Ghana but the entire world.

In a statement, signed by Communications and Corporate Affairs Director, Joyce Afutu, the NCCE remembers Kofi Annan as a champion of global peace, human rights and security.

The statement said his conviction for democracy and anti-corruption is an enviable one.

It noted that Mr. Annan’s fight for peace and security around the world brought him to the notice of the Nobel Awards Committee who duly honoured him with a Nobel Peace Prize in 2001.

The NCCE pointed out that as a son of Ghana, Mr. Annan will be long remembered by all and especially by Ghanaians for making them ” proud internationally”.

It also says his compassion, conduct and calmness towards difficult issues far exceeded human comprehension.

NCCE said the world will miss such a great man, who has been described as ”an epitome of human decency”.
