The Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Major General William Agyapong, has been promoted from a Two-Star General to a Three-Star General—attaining the rank of Lieutenant General—effective May 1, 2025.
The decoration ceremony was conducted by the Minister of Defence, Dr. Omane Boamah, at 8:00 a.m. today in his office at The Square, Ministry of Defence.
This promotion acknowledges Lt. Gen. Agyapong’s leadership and his ongoing contributions to strengthening the Ghana Armed Forces.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Dr. Boamah expressed full confidence in the General’s capabilities.
“I had the privilege of decorating Lt. Gen. Agyapong with his rank this morning at 8:00 a.m. in my office at The Square, Ministry of Defence. We trust you to enhance the capabilities and operational efficiency of the Ghana Armed Forces,” the Minister stated.
