The Coalition for Democratic Accountability and Inclusive Governance, is demanding accountability from government on COVID-19 expenditure, the Agyapa deal, the purported reclassification of the Achimota forest and the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill, which has been in Parliament for decades.
On the COVID-19 expenditure, the group says although it welcomes the Speaker of Parliament’s decision to task the Health and Finance Committees of Parliament to look into the matter, their work is limited to the disbursement made for COVID-19.
They want investigations to cover actual expenditures and want the Auditor General to conduct a forensic audit of all COVID-19 expenditures, especially after comments by a New Patriotic Party (NPP) Executive in the Northern Region that some monies were disbursed to various structures of the Party under the guise of COVID related expenditures.
They are also demanding that the Auditor General issues surcharges and disallowances against persons cited for various financial irregularities in the 2019 and 2020 Auditor General’s report.
On the Achimota forest, the group wants a public inquiry into the policy, asking President Akufo-Addo to immediately suspend E.I 144 and 145 as well as all plans to redevelop the land.
