In a major crackdown on illegal mining, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, has raided an illegal mining site in the Amenfi Central District of Ghana.
The operation, which took place earlier this week, led to the arrest of several key figures, including both Chinese nationals and Ghanaian kingpins believed to be behind the galamsey (illegal mining) activities in the area.

Authorities seized multiple excavators and other mining equipment during the raid. Several makeshift structures on the site, believed to be used by the illegal miners, were destroyed as part of the enforcement action.

This latest operation is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal mining, which continues to pose a serious threat to the country’s environment, water bodies, and natural resources.
