The Parliamentary Select Committee on Health is set to embark on a nationwide inspection of key healthcare facilities from Tuesday, April 22, to Friday, April 25, 2025. This four-day tour aims to assess the current state of healthcare delivery in Ghana, identify pressing challenges, and explore strategies to enhance the quality of services provided across the sector.

The assessment exercise will see Members of Parliament split into three separate teams, each responsible for visiting selected regional and teaching hospitals throughout the country.

Team One will visit Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, Nalerigu Regional Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Tamale Regional Hospital, and Wa Regional Hospital.

Team Two is scheduled to tour Damongo Regional Hospital, Techiman Regional Hospital, Sunyani Regional Hospital, and Goaso Regional Hospital.

Team Three will carry out inspections at Kumasi Regional Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Koforidua Regional Hospital, Ho Regional Hospital, Ho Teaching Hospital, and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.

The visits will focus on evaluating the healthcare infrastructure and overall service delivery at each facility. According to David Sebastian Damoah, Director of Media Relations, MPs will engage directly with medical staff, hospital administrators, and other relevant stakeholders to gain deeper insight into the operational challenges these institutions face.

He emphasized that the initiative will allow lawmakers to gather first-hand information that will inform their oversight duties and contribute to shaping effective national health policies. Stakeholder participation is also being encouraged to ensure that the Committee receives well-rounded input during the engagements.

The Health Committee is mandated to oversee health-related policies, initiatives, and institutions in Ghana. This tour, therefore, reaffirms its dedication to promoting a healthcare system that is accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the Ghanaian population.
