The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, PCG, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, has noted that the church will not relent on its efforts to provide quality education in the country.
Rt. Rev. Prof. Mante Yeboah opined that education is the niche of the Presbyterian Church, and that is why the church takes education very seriously in the country.
In an interview with GBC Sunrise FM during the opening ceremony of the 5th Annual Consultation on Education in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana noted that the Annual Consultation on Education, which began in 2019, has helped improve the performance of their schools in the country in terms of academics and infrastructure.
He noted that this year’s consultation is to deliberate on how the administrators of their schools can demonstrate the light of Jesus Christ in their Institutions.
The Deputy Minister of Education in Charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the MP for Abuakwa North Constituency, Gifty Twum Ampofo, noted that nurturing and mentoring young people, especially students, in this digital era is a very challenging task.
She therefore appealed to educational administrators to have the heart to manage students coming from various backgrounds very well in order to become assets to society in the future.
The lawmaker reiterated that the family system has completely broken down, and the only place the wards can test their nurturing and mentoring processes is in the schools.
The General Manager of Schools of the PCG, Daniel Yeboah Hienno, mentioned that though there are some challenges confronting PCG Senior High Schools, they are still performing better in terms of academics and infrastructure.
Mr. Yeboah Hienno noted that the issue of indiscipline in the schools is so disheartening that there is the need to address it. The 5th Annual Consultation on Education, which was on the theme “Reflecting the Light of Christ in PCG Institutions, the Role of Educational Administrators,” brought together heads of PCG second cycle and vocational institutions, regional managers of schools, heads of tertiary institutions, and heads of presbyteries, among others.
