The Public Services Commission has asked institutions under the Service to institute workplace contingency measures that give employees flexible working hours to reduce the risk of contracting coronavirus.

A statement signed by the chairperson of the Commission, Dr Janet Ampadu Fofie asked Public Service Organizations to prioritize the health of their workers, clients as well as the general public.

According to the Commission, this should be done while ensuring that business continuity plans are put in place and operational in order to provide continuous delivery of valuable services.

It said these Organizations are also to prepare their business continuity plans in accordance with the Policy on Flexible Working Hours as articulated in the HRM Policy Framework and Manual for the Ghana Public Services to ensure minimum number of staff at the workplace at any given time.

The statement said interns, National Service Persons, NABCO Officers, and other non-essential staff could take their leave.

Heads of organizations are also to submit their plans to the Heads of the various Services, with copies to the Chairman, Public Services Commission and the Office of the Chief of Staff.
