The Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC), Right Reverend Prosper Samuel Dzomeku, has charged people in leadership to exhibit the highest sense of morality in order to serve as good role models who will draw others to God.
He lamented the moral decadence that has currently engulfed the nation with not many godly role models and institutions to look up to. He said it was to address this void that, “we need to be intentional in raising leaders with godly character in order to address the ills of society”.
Rt. Rev. Dzomeku was preaching the Sermon at the Commissioning Service for 17 Ministers of the Church at the GEC Trinity Chapel, Kotobabi in Accra. Preaching on the theme: “Imitate Christ by Walking in His Light” based on Ephesians 5:1-20, the Moderator said, Jesus’ followers in the early Church, modelled after him earning them the name Christians in Antioch.
In the same way, he said, we must also imitate Christ as Christians by living his virtues in this perverse world with the hope of making positive impact on it.
The Moderator charged the newly Commissioned Pastors to be selfless in their deeds with total commitment to the salvation of souls.

He admonished them to eschew the temptation of wealth-making at the expense of the souls entrusted into their hands.
“Brethren, remember that you are being Commissioned today to win souls and prepare them for eternal life and not to milk them for your personal gains,” he cautioned.
The Moderator then challenged the Commissioned Pastors and all those who occupy leadership positions in the country to be role models in morality with respect to wealth acquisition, sexual relationships, and speech.
Rev. Dr. Yohanes Ahiabu, the Synod Clerk of the Church, earlier presented the candidates to the Moderator for the Commissioning rites.
Rev Dr. Ernestina Enyonam Novieto, a newly Commissioned Minister on behalf of his colleagues, expressed their gratitude to God who called them into ministry.
Their gratitude also went to the Executive of the Church, the leadership of the Global Theological Seminary, where they were trained, their families and friends for their diverse support that has brought them this far.
The Commissioning Service was attended by Mr. Eyram Atsu and Madam Joyce Dieu Donne Ahiabor the Male and Female Presbyters of the Church respectively. Others include Past Executives of the Church, the Spouses of the current Executives, invited guests, friends, and families of the commissioned Ministers.
