The Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, has extended a helping hand to 15-year-old Mavis Agbo, a student of Takla Tokor E.P. Basic School in the Ho Municipality of the Volta region, who is battling a severe spinal condition known as scoliosis.
The Minister visited the young girl and her family and made a personal donation of GH¢10,000 to support her upcoming surgery.
The gesture comes as part of a broader appeal to the public to help raise the full amount needed for her medical treatment.

“Her story touched me deeply, and I’m committed to walking this journey with her,” Mr. Gunu said during the visit. He described Mavis as a brave young girl who deserves the full support of society to regain her health and continue her education.
Mavis requires a total of GH¢493,869 for a life-changing surgical procedure.

The Minister appealed to the hospital authorities to begin the process and called on well-meaning individuals, philanthropists, and institutions to partner with his office to raise the remaining GH¢483,869 needed for the surgery.
The visit by the Regional Minister has brought renewed hope to Mavis and her family, who have been struggling to raise the funds for the surgery.
The donation and the Minister’s pledge of continued support are expected to encourage more people to contribute to the cause.
