15 former and current Ministers of State honoured

Fifteen former and current Ministers of State have been honoured in Accra for their contribution to national development.

The awards ceremony was organised by Big Events, organisers of the Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours.

Recipients of the awards include Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye, former Speaker of Parliament, who served as Minister for Communications; Nana Akomea, a former Minister for Information and currently Managing Director of state transport, STC; Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; Prof. Joshua Alabi, former Rector, UPSA; and Mr.  Hackman Owusu Agyeman.

The others are Mr. Peter Kwamena Bartels and Mr. Julius Debrah, former Chief of Staff under the erstwhile Mahama administration, Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, former governor, Bank of Ghana, Mr. Catherine Afeku, Mr. Joe Ghartey, Mr. Alan Kyerematen, Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh also received awards.

Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, a former ambassador to the United States and Mexico and former Minister for Trade and Industry after receiving urged public servants to serve the interest of the nation.

Some celebrities and traditional leaders graced the occasion. The Chief Executive of Big Events, Mr. Prince Macaay, said the annual event would be expanded to cover other state officials.
