President Akufo-Addo and wife Rebecca join worshippers at Accra Ridge to welcome 2022

President Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians to stay united and focus as the government puts in place programmes and policies to improve their conditions of service.

Speaking to the media after worshiping with the Accra Ridge Church to observe the December 31 Watch Night Service, the President was confident measures instituted by his administration will start yielding fruits.

President Akufo-Addo, accompanied by his wife, Rebecca, joined congregants of the Accra Ridge Church for the Watch-Night Service to usher in Year 2022.

Amidst songs of praise, hymns and supplications, the congregants offered prayers of thanksgiving for the goodness of God in 2021, and prayed for the stability and economic development of Ghana on the threshold of the new decade.

They also prayed for the poor, the sick, the needy, the departed, the Church, the youth, and the new year, that God would lift his countenance on the country, shower the country with peace, and meet both the spiritual and physical needs of Ghanaians in the New Year.

In a sermon, a Minister of the Church, Rev. Canon Samuel Lamptey urged Ghanaians to love and sacrifice for one another.

President Akufo-Addo asked Ghanaians to remain optimistic about the future of the country.

At the stroke of midnight, congregants, mostly dressed in white, burst into joyous shouts, waving their white handkerchiefs, exchanged greetings as they ushered in, 2022 .

Also, other merry-makers and revelers around the Church’s environs released spectacular fireworks into the sky line.

Covid-19 safety Protocols were strictly observed.
