GBC News’ Beatrice Senaju & Oforiwa Darko come tops at Merck, ”More Than A Mother Media Recognition Award”

GBC News’ Beatrice Senadju and Oforiwaa Darko are among winners of the 2021 Merck “More Than A Mother Media Recognition Award.”

They picked up two positions in the Multimedia Category for West Africa.

Merck Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA Germany in partnership with African First ladies announced the winners of MERCK Foundation Africa Media Recognition Awards “More Than a Mother” 2021.

The awards were announced by Senator Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation More than a Mother together with African First ladies, who are also ambassadors of Merck Foundation More than a Mother. GBC News’ Oforiwa Darko and Beatrice Senadju are part of the three 2021 winners for the

Multimedia Category in West Africa. Alieu Ceesay, QTV Gambia took the first place.

Oforiwa Darko of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC was second and Beatrice Senadju also with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation placed third.

CEO of Merck Foundation, Senator Dr. Rasha Kelej congratulated all winners when she made the announcement and further encouraged all winners from the Western, Southern and East African Countries to further raise awareness about infertility, eliminate the stigma around it and support girl-child education.

She said in a release that winners are valuable members of the Merck Foundation Alumni. Dr. Rasha Kelej added that all winners will be rewarded with a one year online educational training program called Masterclass.

The theme for this year’s Award was: Raising awareness about Infertility prevention, Breaking Infertility stigma and Empowering Girls and women through Education.
