The Good News Bible Church has held its annual Pastors and Leadership Conference in Accra with a call on the clergy to remain resolute in propagating the gospel and serve the purpose of God rather than engaging in utterances that undermine and distort the peace and stability of the nation. Speaking at the event, the General Overseer of the Good News Bible Church, Reverend Dr. Abukari Yakubu said in recent times, the Church has over-concentrated on worldly materials that has led to a decline in soul winning. Touching on the Police directive against misleading prophecies, Rev Dr. Yakubu said there would have been no need for such an action if all Ministers of the Gospel acted in accordance with the teachings of God.

“The Church has become part and parcel of the world and the difference is no more there. Most of these Pastors have given room for the IGP to issue a stern warning against Prophecy because as Police Chief, he is supposed to ensure security of the nation, so the stance against any prophecy that will bring chaos and destabilise the country. Nevertheless, it has to be done with measures as not all prophecies are wrong” Reverend Yakubu stated.

He also called on men of God not to commercialize the gospel and let the knowledge of God discern from their heart.

The Good News Bible Churches emerged from the Ministry of Serving in Missions (SIM) in Ghana. The Church has branches nationwide and outside the shores of Ghana. A Former General Overseer of the church, Reverend Paul Abasili, elucidating on the theme of the conference which is “Rebuilding Our Lives and Ministries in the Midst of Crises” said the conference seeks to equip the Pastors with the requisite knowledge in their Ministries and how to effectively deal with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“When you are in the Ministry, things change overtime and you need to know the root cause of issues affecting humanity, especially those in remote places. So when the ministers gather, we seek solutions on how to navigate through the crises and also revamp the Ministers in the discharge of their duties”, Rev Paul Abasili stated.

The General Secretary of the Church in charge of Local and International, Reverend Emmanuel Awortwe admonished Men of God to desist from engaging in partisan and open politics.

“As a Prophet, there’s no need to be affiliated to a particular political party. Such acts are not the ways of God. Prophets must act in accordance with the scripture and there is no passage in the Bible that says prophets be affiliated to a political party”, Reverend Awortwe added.

An induction ceremony was conducted for the New Executives of the Church as well as the launch of a book meant to guide the Ministers of the Gospel.

Director of SIM Ghana who is also a key partner of the Good News Bible Churches, Penny Bakewell, charged the new executives to discharge their duties with utmost diligence and God fear.
