The National Democratic Congress’ Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has shown love to a group of women from selected Constituencies in Accra. She says this is her widow’s mite as they perform an act of deep personal worship.
”It is especially in times like this that the vulnerable feel cut off from society. So, the support to the more than 200 Head Potters/Kayayei was to show some love and make them feel part of the people”.
Beneficiaries were from Ayawaso East Constituency, Odododiodio, Klottey Korley and Ablekuma.
Giving to the vulnerable is a regular affair for Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang. She said it is her contribution to a successful and peaceful Ramadan.
She gave them counsel on the importance of spiritual emphasis, which is the time of increased worship, spiritual cleansing, good deeds and acts of charity.
Prof. Opoku Agyemang encouraged them to remain steadfast in all their endeavours during this period of Ramadan.
”Conflict, malice, bitterness and anything that would drain you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually should not be part of your thought processes”.
”As a mother, I will entreat you to be patient with the children, take proper care of them, and bring them up as advised in the Good Book”, she said.
A Former Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Nana Oye Bampoe, also reminded the group about the importance of observing and maintaining peace throughout Ramadan.
”It is a blessing to help when one has the means and especially so, in this holy month of Ramadan”, she said.
The women were grateful for the gesture and reiterated their utmost support for Prof. Opoku-Agyemang and the party as a whole.
Supporting the occasion were the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tongu, Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa, and other executive members of the party.
