The Sunyani Municipal Assembly failed to meet its revenue target for 2021. As a result, some measures to enhance revenue mobilisation to ensure the steady development of the area are to be instituted to improve the situation according to the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, Ansu Kumi while speaking at the 1st Ordinary Meeting of the 3rd Session of the Seventh Assembly of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region.

Mr Ansu Kumi further said, the Assembly collected a little over GHC11 million of its 2021 target of GHC 26 million.

Austin Agyenim Boateng reports that the 1st Ordinary Meeting of the 3rd Session of the Seventh Assembly of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly was heavily attended by Assembly Members.

The meeting discussed gains and losses made by the Assembly and strategies for improvement.

Also on the agenda were matters to do with Agriculture, Education, Health, Sanitation and Security amongst others.

Addressing the meeting, the Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani, Ansu Kumi said, the Assembly collected 11,743,955.04 cedis of its 2021 annual target of 26,227,027.00 cedis.  Total IGF mobilised during the same year was 1,839, 306.68 cedis.

He said the Assembly has projected to collect total revenue of  26,283,566.89 out of which IGF is projected at 3,977,786.00 cedis for 2022.

Mr Ansu Kumi indicated traders who occupy the Assembly’s shops owe the Assembly more than GHC 800 million.

“The Assembly is however working on measures to improve its revenue generation this year.”

The Sunyani Chief Executive also called on Members to collaborate with the Police to maintain peace in the Municipality.
