By Ewurabena Paha

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, Irchad Razaaly, says Europe and Ghana can strengthen ties towards climate mitigation to benefit the two Countries.

Mr. Razaaly made the point during a visit to an EU supported manufacturing company in Accra.

The visit also highlighted the successes of EU-Ghana cooperation on green growth and sustainable energy solutions.

Accompanied by several CEO’s in renewable and solar energy companies, Mr. Razaaly said companies in Ghana must begin to look at how to use solar as a source of electricity generation.

He said Mini Plast has shown that solar energy generation is possible because the company’s plants are powered by a 782 kilowatts installed plant.

This became a reality because of an EU financing initiative called ‘electrifil’.

The Fund has launched projects in several African countries including Ghana, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire and is looking to expand to Senegal and Egypt.

The visit by the EU Ambassador forms part of activities to mark Europe day which falls on May 9, 2022.
