A joint operation by the Immigration Service and the Ghana Police Service in the Amansie West District has resulted in the arrest of 28 foreigners and a landlord for breaching Ghana’s immigration laws.

The suspects were apprehended during raids on their hideouts at Pakyi No. 1 and No. 2 in the district.

Authorities said the operation, carried out on Saturday, March 14, 2026, aimed to tackle illegal immigration in the area.

The District Chief Executive for Amansie West, Mr. Prince Manu Morris, cautioned landlords against renting to undocumented immigrants, urging them to verify the legal status of prospective tenants.

“Renting to undocumented immigrants is against Ghana’s laws,” he said. “We will not tolerate any form of illegal activity in our district. Landlords must take responsibility for verifying the status of their tenants.”

Mr. Manu Morris assured residents of the Assembly’s support in combating illegal immigration and appealed to the public to report suspicious activities to authorities.

The arrested foreigners are in police custody facing charges for entering Ghana without proper documentation, while the landlord faces charges for renting his property to undocumented immigrants.
