GRA relocates to Kinbu and Adabraka offices following fire outbreak

The Ghana Revenue Authority, (GRA) will from Monday,  December 2, be relocating, all 280 staff from the Headquarters to Kinbu in Accra.

All customers have been asked to do business at the Accra Adabraka offices.


The directives followed the fire outbreak at its Headquarters annex building near circle on Sunday, December 2, 2019.

The Acting Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue, Authority Amishadai Owusu Amoah when announcing some measures they have put in place in the mean time also allayed the fears of the public and said should any new issue arise the Authority will communicate it to the public.

The Acting Commissioner General also assured that data of the authority has not been compromised as they have a back up system for all their files and information.

Meanwhile, four (4), persons have been injured in the fire that razed the offices of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Head Office Annex at Circle.

An official of the Red Cross and Nadmo who confirmed this said the injured persons are all personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service adding that the injuries are minor ones.At the time of this report one person was referred to the hospital for treatment.

The fire at the Ghana Revenue Authority started around 7:30 am and started spreading to the other offices very fast.

Some eyewitnesses who spoke to Radio Ghana said they saw flames coming out from the top floor of the building and they alerted the fire Service only for them to get there without any water in their tender.

The fighfighters who had a challenge with battling the fire had to call for reinforcements from the military.

About eight tenders were there to fight fire with some of the personnel using the turn table ladder to fight the fire.

Around 11:30 the fire that was thought was under control again started spreading to the other floors of the building and shuttering the glasses which are falling all over.

Police have cordoned off the area and traffic has been diverted to the other side of the road.

The cause of the fire is still not known and I investigations into the cause has started in earnest.
