The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has announced the arrest of 48 suspected cybercrime operatives in the Dawhenya area of the Ningo-Prampram Constituency.

‎According to the Minister, the arrests followed a late-night, intelligence-led operation carried out by the Cyber Security Authority of Ghana, with support from National Security and the Ghana Police Service. The operation targeted organised cybercrime networks operating within the area.

‎Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are believed to be Nigerian nationals. They include 46 males and two females. The group is suspected to be involved in several cyber-related crimes such as romance scams, online investment fraud, impersonation schemes and illegal online gold trading.

‎The minister in a Facebook post on Wednesday December 24, 2025, indicated that security operatives retrieved several items during the operation. These include 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, one Starlink internet device and eight MTN TurboNet routers, which are believed to have been used in carrying out the illegal activities.

‎Mr. George said the operation demonstrates the government’s commitment to protecting Ghana’s digital space. He stressed that while Ghana welcomes foreigners engaged in lawful business, the country will remain hostile to cyber criminals.

‎He commended the security personnel involved for their professionalism and dedication, describing their work as worthy of national and international recognition.
