A -48 year-old Farmer, Alhaji Adam Alhassan has been adjudged the overall Tema Metro best farmer.

He received items at cost of nine thousand, 233 Ghana Cedis.

The items include tricycle, Wellington boot, bicycle, wheelbarrow, full piece cloth, weedcide, cutlass, and assorted items.

Alhaji Alhassan is said to practice integrated farming, and sticks to good agricultural husbandry practices taught by Extension Agents.

In an address, the Tema Metropolitan Director of Agriculture, Mrs. Dora Ankrah said the awardees were selected based on diversification and integration of farming operations and ability to identify farming problem and innovations among other good farming practices .

The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Felix Mensah Annang-La said urbanization and the curving out of a new district from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly have negatively affected Crop farming in the Tema metropolis.

He therefore challenged the farmers to explore new innovative ways to sustain the local agriculture and also enhance the fishing industry.

On the closed Mr. Annang-La called for sustainable dialogue among key players in the fishing industry to ensure its smooth implementation next year.
