5 million coconut tress to be replanted in Western Region

Five million coconut trees are to be replanted in the Western Region of Ghana.

The replanting exercise — a joint project between the Western Region and Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria is expected to be launched by end of May, 2019.

This was announced during separate speeches by the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah and the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Uboh Emmanuel at the City Wide Thanksgiving Service instituted by Bishop Ogyiri Asare’s Zion Praise Chapel.

The Western region is joining forces with Akwa Ibom because the State has planted over one hundred and ten hectares of coconut and is in the process of building the largest coconut processing factory in Africa.
