96 Year Group lights-up GHANASCO at 60

The ’96 year group of the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) has installed streetlights in the school to boost security. The initiative coincided with the 60th Anniversary celebration of the school.

Staff and students of the school had complained about poor visibility on campus.

“Such that miscreants had taken advantage of the situation to robb some students”.

A first-year student of the school, Hadi Hibatu in an interview revealed that “when we go out to Bath at night, we rely on moonlight. We are always scared to go for preps and that is affecting us, some of our mates have also been attacked at night”. Spokesperson for the “96-year group, Dr. Salifu Nihad explained that, her group took up the project to improve security in the school supports the creation of an enabling environment for academic work.
She explained that “we took it upon ourselves to carry out this project to address the security situation in the school”.

The Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mohammed Uthman, commended the group, noting that, it is not the first time the “96 year group has one in to support the school. He expressed the hope that, the group will not relent in their efforts to make their alma mater a better place.

GHANASCO is one of the most popular Senior High Schools in Northern Ghana. The school has produced some illustrious citizens who have served the World in various capacities.

These including Former President John Dramani Mahama, Former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, Maestro Abedi Ayew Pele and the Founder for the All People’s Congress (APC) Hassan Ayariga of the.
