The grandchildren of the late Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, have delivered a deeply moving tribute at her final funeral ceremony at the Black Star Square in Accra on Friday November 28, 2025, saying that “to imagine a world without her is to imagine a world without sun, without birdsong.”

‎They described their grandmother as a “once-in-a-lifetime woman” whose presence lit up every space she entered. According to them, Nana Konadu lived with a light “woven from something beyond this world” and carried a fire that showed in everything she did.

‎Sharing memories of their childhood, they said growing up beside her felt like living next to a flame that knew its own strength, bright, daring and full of purpose. To them, she was not just a national figure but a grandmother whose warmth made them feel seen, lifted, and empowered.

‎The grandchildren remembered her as a gifted storyteller whose tales were vibrant and dramatic, often delivered with humour and a spark that made ordinary moments exciting. They recalled how she could turn even National Geographic documentaries into “a telenovela,” making the animal kingdom feel like prime-time entertainment.

‎They added that elegance came naturally to her. “Even at home, she walked around in high-heeled slippers as if elegance was a language she spoke effortlessly,” they said, noting that beauty for her was simply a way of being.

‎To the family, she was a matriarch whose commanding presence could humble even the strongest person. One grandchild shared how, even at 20 years old, they were still expected to avert their eyes during kissing scenes on TV a reminder of her firm but loving guidance.

‎The grandchildren said losing her comes “in ebbs and flows,” and imagining life without her feels like imagining “a world without the hum of life itself.” Yet, they added that she kept giving love even when she was tired and poured herself out for others even when she was stretched thin.

‎They described her as an angel whose boundless energy, kindness, and selflessness touched everyone who knew her. She taught them that being a woman meant embracing resilience, humour, grace, vibrancy, and power without apology.

‎In their tribute, they called her their hero a woman who turned everything she touched into gold and left behind memories and lessons that time can never erase.
