One person died while another sustained serious injuries when a tipper truck run over then at Kumbungu in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region.
A television dealer however escaped the accident as the tipper truck run into his shop just before it was opened for business.
The incident happened in front of the Kumbungu Police Station and the Kumbungu Senior High School where many containers have sprung up along the shoulders of the road recently.
Eyewitnesses told GBC News that, the tipper truck, which was heading to Dalun to fetch sea sand was over speeding and might have lost control.
The vehicle run over a barrier before hitting the two riders who packed on the side of the road to give way for the speeding vehicle. Some youth of the community in a reaction, blocked the road briefly and burnt lorry tires.
At the scene of the accident, residents were seen in their numbers, taking a view at the vehicle and the victim’s mangled motorbikes.
The deceased has since been buried, while the injured is receiving treatment at the hospital.
