Traders at Railway Station and UTC area at Accra’s central business district demonstrate against government for removing them.

They marched peacefully along the shoulder of the road in their numbers towards the office of the New Patriotic Party in Adabraka.

This mass movement of traders marched to NPP office to express their dissatisfaction with their removal from the Railway Station and UTC area at Accra’s central business district, where they sell their wares.

They are pleading with the government for an alternative location to keep body and soul together.

According to the traders, they were barely given any notice from the Greater Accra Regional Minister last Saturday, June 12, to move from their place of business to free the pavement and clean up that location ahead of the 59th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, in Accra.

The traders say, the notice was scheduled to expire on Saturday, June 19, 2021. But, all efforts to return to their place of business have not been successful.

The traders are appealing to the government for a bit more time to enable them sell their products or allocate alternative space to keep their heads above water.

The police were on hand to ensure that the march was peaceful.
