ADA: ELECTROCHEM supports women traders with interest free loans

A Giant Salt Mining Company at Ada Electrochem Ghana limited a subsidiary company under McDan Group of Companies, has provided women traders in the area with an interest-free loan amounting to Three Million Ghana Cedis. The Financial assistance is part of the Company’s Community Support Scheme for the women in Ada to expand their various businesses.

About a thousand (1000) Women traders expected to benefit from the total package, the first batch had 230 traders benefited under the AEGIS of Electrochem – the Salt Mining expects at Ada. The support is in line with the Company’s goal of growing together with the Community.

The company’s Project Consultant, Miss Dzigbordi Dosoo told the media that there are many Small-Scale businesses at Ada, but majority of them lack strategic business planning, coaching and financial blood to thrive. Most of these businesses are run by women who are breadwinners in their families. The support is therefore to improve the wellbeing of families and Communities.

“We first take the women and give them loans, just simple support funds to run a trading business. The was a selection process to select all the Communities and asked them to bring lists for the first batch. We screened the lists and selected the first batch who will not just undergo training but they’ll get Financial support, they’ll get full training on the skills needed to become an entrepreneur. Once they go out to the communities, our teams will be visiting them to give them continuous support until their businesses are established,” She said.

The Queen Mother of Adibiawer Clan, Naana Adiki manyeyoo I, who is also the head of the Corporate Social Responsibility unit of Electrochem advised the loan beneficiaries not to default in replaying the loan. She said they would be trained in Business Networking and Financial Management.

“They will be given four days counseling and training on business networking, financial management and to help them know how to handle their finances. She called on indigenes of Ada to support Electrochem Ghana Limited in carrying out developmental projects within the two Districts,” She said.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to us after the program expressed excitement over the helps Electrochem Ghana Limited as a company gives their communities and thanked Mr. Daniel Mckorley for the loan.

The Ada Market Queen, Madam Ernestina Nartey and beneficiaries of the loan thanked Mr. Daniel McKorley for the support.
