Adentan Driver imprisoned, gets 4 years for stealing vehicle

The Adentan Circuit Court has sentenced one Daniel Agyei, a driver, to four years imprisonment for stealing a Vehicle worth about GH₵50,000.

Daniel Agyei, who is 18-years old, stole from a colleague driver at Ashaley Botwe a suburb of Accra.

According to the facts of the case presented by Chief Inspector Maxwell lanyo, on the 13th of this month, the complainant, a Driver at Ashaley Botwe, gave his vehicle to the accused person to use as spare and return it with sales. The next day, the accused person refused to send the car back to the complainant and his whereabouts was not known.

The complainant went to the station where he worked to see if the accused person had returned his car, but he had equally failed to do so.

An official report was lodged at the Madina Police Station and a Police wireless message sent out. Daniel Agyei was arrested by the Ashaiman Police Patrol with the car and was escorted to the Madina Police Station.

Upon interrogation, he said he intended to sell the car to a scrap dealer at Ashaiman and had removed all the seats and dumped them somewhere.

He also admitted to the offense of stealing from the complainant.
