Affordable state housing project launched at Sefwi Wiawso

The first ever Affordable State Housing Project has been launched at Sefwi Wiawso, the Western North Regional Capital.

The 100 Estate facility, is code-named “Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama Affordable Housing Project and it is to provide affordable homes to Public and Civil Servants posted to the Region.

Speaking to GBC News after the launch, Managing Director of the State Housing Company, Kwabena Ampofo Appiah reiterated government’s commitment to providing quality affordable houses for public sector workers.

According to him about 100,000 Houses will be built within the next Ten years to bridge the housing deficit in the country. In addition, Mr. Appiah said the State Housing Company will partner the Ministry of Finance and some Banks to consider the reduction of interest rates on loans for the public to purchase the facilities built by the Company.

The Omanhene of Sefwi Wiawso,Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama, who  the Project was named after, expressed appreciation to  government for the honour done him.

The Omanhene, who is also a member of the Council of State, hoped the project will be completed soon to ease the accommodation challenges in the region.

Speaking on behalf of the Western North Regional Minister, Richard Obeng, the MCE for Sefwi Wiawso, Louis Owusu Agyapong, stressed the readiness of the Regional Coordinating Council to work closely with the Traditional authorities.
