Africans in diaspora gearing up for ‘Year of Return’

Six days more to the ‘Year of Return’ Programme being organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority in collaboration with some diasporan groups, there are indications that lots of Africans in the diaspora are gearing up to participate in the healing and cleansing event.

On the 1st of August, Ghana is organising the programme dubbed ‘Year of Return’ for people in the diapora to visit Assin Manso in the Central Region where slaves were routed to the Americas and Caribbean to undergo hard labour.

Briefing GBC News on preparations towards the event, the founder of the Ministry of the Future, a diasporan group, Dr. Habet Malano Malano was elated at the response of people in the diaspora to visit Assin Manso where they will bathe in the slave river and build infrastructure there.

He said the trip is a pilgrimage for the people of Africa.
