AG indicts Justice & AG for failing to transfer 4.740 million GHC into consolidated funds

Ghana’s Auditor General Daniel Yaw Domelevo has indicted the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General’s Department for failing to transfer proceeds from criminal case into the Consolidated Fund Account amounting to Four point 740 million Ghana cedis.

Regulation 22 of the Financial Administration Regulations, 2004 states that, all public moneys collected shall be paid in gross into the Public Funds Accounts and no disbursement shall be made from the moneys except as provided by an enactment.

The Audit review also indicated that Ministry of Justice and Attorney General maintains a dollar Account with the Bank of Ghana into which lodgement of royalties are made.

The review however disclosed a balance of 969, 455.50 dollars which had not been transferred into the consolidated Fund Account since 2016.

The Chief Accountant however, explained that, the balance on the account was from proceeds realized from a court case involving the Republic verses Flamingo Foods, in 2016.

The Auditor General has therefore recommended that, the Chief Director as a matter of urgency liases with the office of Minister and the Attorney General to ensure that the balance is transferred into the consolidated fund without further delay.
