The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has begun pre-screening checks for departing passengers at the entrance to the Departure Hall at the Accra International Airport.
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) said in a notice issued on Friday, October 2, 2026, that all passengers travelling through the airport will undergo luggage screening before entering the Departure Hall.
The screening is being conducted with scanning machines and sniffer dogs as part of enhanced security measures.
GACL said pre-screening checks are conducted at several international airports worldwide.
Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time to allow enough time for security screening, check-in and other boarding formalities.
Access to the Departure Hall is restricted to travelling passengers, and non-travelling persons will not be permitted to enter.
GACL said the measure forms part of its cooperation with security agencies to strengthen airport security and ensure safe, secure and efficient airport operations.
