Akufo-Addo extends incentive package for health workers for another 3 months

President Akufo-Addo has announced an extension of the incentive package for health professionals by another three months beginning this month to September.

This means that all health workers will not pay income tax for the next three months. Additionally, all frontline workers as defined by the Ministry of Health will continue to receive the additional allowance of 50 percent of their basic salary a month.

President Akufo Addo announced this in an address to the Nation on measures taken to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.

President Akufo Addo. Ghana has recorded 17,351 positive cases of COVID-19. Out of which 12, 994 have recovered, representing 75 parent of positive cases and active cases stand at 4,245 out of the 294,867 tests conducted.

30 persons are severely ill with 112 deaths recorded. President Akufo Addo encouraged the public to continue observing the safety protocols and guidelines to stop the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, the President has asked Ghanaians to seek early attention when exhibiting symptoms of Coronavirus such as fever and cough.

It has been established that most of the patients that have been lost to the virus died either on arrival at the hospital or within forty-eight hours after arrival.

Delays in seeking medical attention has been partly due to the fear of stigmatization or embarrassment for being diagnosed with COVID-19.

In his latest update on measures taken to stem the spread of the virus, President Akufo Addo noted that most patients, who are critically ill and given intensive care, to survive the virus.
