Akufo-Addo sets up committee to develop, manufacture vaccines in Ghana

President Akufo-Addo has set up a committee to look into the local production of vaccines. The Committee has already started work in earnest.

The move comes as scientists in countries all over the world are working assiduously to develop vaccines to meet growing demand especially in the wake of COVID-19.

Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang Manu announced this during the launch of the Africa Vaccination week in Accra.

He disclosed that three pharmaceutical companies have started building factories for vaccine manufacturing in Ghana.

If Ghana works to manufacture vaccines, it will be the second in Africa after Nigeria who last month developed two vaccines against COVID-19, yet to be approved.
