A joint operation by four security agencies has uncovered what is alleged to be a weapons manufacturing facility in Accra.

The centre operates under the guise of a medical facility known as Citadel Hospital, located at Alajo.

National Security, the Police, Ghana Armed Forces and the BNI carried out the operation.
During the raid, the security officials retrieved a cache of newly manufactured assault rifles and explosives.

A security source told the Daily Graphic that the facility and its operations has been monitored for over a year.

The Medical Director and owner of the hospital, Dr. Fred Macpalm, and an alleged accomplice, said to be a blacksmith based in the Volta Region were arrested and are currently in the custody of the BNI.

Intensive search is ongoing for the arrest of other members of the manufacturing syndicate who are on the run.
