AMA to mount monitoring censor at Accra Mall to check air pollution

The Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, through the Environmental Protection Agency, commemorated the World Environment Day,  in Accra.

The occasion was used to launch Ghana’s Air Quality Standards to monitor air pollution in Ghana.

The Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mohammed Adjei Sowah said AMA will mount a monitoring censor at the Accra Mall to provide timely and quality readings of air in the city.

According to Adjei Sowah, the censor is to check air pollution and address it.

The Global Ambassador for the Clean Cooking Alliance, Mrs. Samira Bawumia used the opportunity to highlight the harmful effects of cooking with firewood and charcoal on our health and environment.

Mrs. Bawumia who is the wife of Ghana’s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said bad cooking practices contribute to climate change through pollution which mostly affect women and children.

This is why every effort aimed at addressing air pollution must be supported.
