The Presiding Prelate of the A.M.E. Zion Church, in charge of Western West Africa Episcopal District, Rt. Rev. Dr. Hilliard Dela Dogbe, has asked Ghanaians, especially, Christians, to eschew negative tendencies that retard the progress of the country.

“Because things are difficult, some might be tempted to cut corners. It is worrying, that corruption is in the system, when the statistics show that about 70 percent of Ghanaians are Christians.”

Raising a rhetorical question, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Dogbe said, “In Ghana, we have more than 70 percent of our population as Christians, so, in other words, 70 percent of the people in government offices, Parliament and everywhere there are Christians, so, why is corruption increasing?”

He wondered why Christians working in such offices would allow themselves to be destructed by the evils of the world. He asked the church to be focused on God in the face of trials and tribulations.

Speaking at the 40th-anniversary celebration of the ‘Big Zion Society’ of the A.M.E. Zion Church, at South La Estates in Accra, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Dogbe, said Ghanaians can overcome the current challenges if they faithfully abide by God’s word.

The theme of the anniversary was: “STEPPING INTO THE HIGHER HEIGHTS WITH GOD AT 40”.

“People will try to pull and tear you down, but don’t lose focus because as you keep your eyes and mind on God, then he will look up to you. Rt. Rev. Dr. Hilliard Dela Dogbe, asked Christians to properly identify themselves in the work of God to gain divine favor in these difficult times.

He acknowledged, ‘’there are many people who are distressed, discouraged and have lost all kinds of hope, giving a lending hand will help them through their problems.”

The Pastor in charge of the ‘Big Zion Society’ of the A.M.E Zion Church, Rev. Chris J.E.Y. Gawugbe, asked Ghanaians not to lose hope despite the economic challenges.

‘’We are going through all kinds of difficulties and challenges in life, but we looking up to God, to help us through the difficult times.”

The Municipal Chief Executive of La-Dade Kotopon, Solomon Kotey Nikoi, asked for the continuous support from churches in the municipality, to push forward the Assembly’s development agenda.

He urged residents to help keep the environment clean in the Municipality.
