The Ashanti South Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Yussif Mohammed, for possessing over 200 rounds of ammunition and other suspicious items.
Police say Yussif was travelling on a bus from Kumasi to Accra when his backpack accidentally fell off the vehicle near the Asankare Police Barrier. Officers nearby were alerted and quickly retrieved the bag. When they stopped the bus, Yussif admitted that the bag was his and was immediately arrested.
According to 3news, during a press briefing, Deputy Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner Cephas Arthur, said officers found 207 rounds of various types of ammunition in the bag. These included bullets for AK-47 rifles, G3 rifles, and CZ pistols.

Other items discovered in the bag included a bulletproof vest, two empty CZ magazines, one empty and two loaded G3 magazines, and a quantity of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp. The police also found military uniforms, two black jackets, a green jacket, a crash helmet, and a smock with talismans sewn inside.
Yussif Mohammed remains in police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
