The Andani Royal family in Dagbon has called for the support from all Ghanaians especially the media to ensure the success of the final funeral rites of Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani which commence Today.

The family has also urged people in Dagbon to be in a state of mourning and the media, especially local radio stations to play songs connoting mourning to commemorate the historical event.

The funeral rites of Naa Yakubu Andani begin Friday, January 4, 2019, and the family says it’s ready to abide by all the terms of engagement.

The Chairman of the Andani Youth Associaion, Alhaji Abdulai Anas, on behalf of the Chairman of the funeral Committee, Voo Naa. Bawa, made the call at a meeting in Tamale to brief the media on preparations towards the final funeral rites of the late chief.

Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani II was the King of Dagbon, the traditional kingdom of the Dagomba people in northern Ghana, from May 31, 1974 until his assassination on March 27, 2002, at the Gbewaa Palace.

Several efforts to resolve the dispute hit a snag until recently when the two royal gates resolved to bury their differences to bring peace to the area following a roadmap submitted by the committee of eminent chiefs led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
