The Member of Parliament for Anlo Constituency, Richard Kwame Sefe, has donated 10 irrigation machines to women farmers at Anyanui-Wedanu to support agricultural production and improve livelihoods in the area.
The donation is intended to help the farmers expand their operations, increase productivity and reduce their dependence on rainfall for farming.
Presenting the machines, Mr Sefe said providing farmers with the necessary equipment was essential to strengthening agriculture and creating sustainable livelihoods in the constituency.
“Agriculture remains central to the economic well-being of our communities. I will therefore continue to advocate for practical interventions that empower our farmers, particularly women, and create opportunities for them to thrive,” he said.
The MP also expressed concern over the impact of recent floods on farmers in the constituency, many of whom suffered significant crop losses.
“I deeply share in their pain and understand the devastating impact these losses have on families whose livelihoods depend largely on farming,” he said.
Mr Sefe assured affected farmers that he would continue engaging relevant authorities to ensure they are considered for appropriate government interventions and support programmes for flood-affected farmers.
He said the donation formed part of his broader commitment to supporting farmers and strengthening agricultural livelihoods in Anlo.
Mr Sefe also pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to rebuild livelihoods, improve agricultural productivity and create better opportunities for farmers in the constituency.
