The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended his heartfelt sympathies to the victims of a recent terrorist attack in Burkina Faso.

In a social media statement, Dr Bawumia offered his condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Emphasising that Ghanaian traders should not be exposed to such grave risks, he called on the government to bolster intelligence sharing with neighbouring countries and strengthen the existing framework for countering violent extremism to ensure the safety of all citizens abroad.

STATEMENT ON SOME GHANAIAN TRADERS KILLED IN BURKINA FASO

I’ve received with shock news of some Ghanaian traders who have been killed, as well as several others injured in a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso.

The NPP, Samira, and I express our condolences to the families of the bereaved and our best wishes to the injured.

Ghanaian traders must not be left to such peril as they go about their trade.

I urge the government to deepen intelligence collaboration with all our neighbors to ensure Ghanaians are protected wherever they find themselves.

Our well established framework for preventing and countering violent extremism and terrorism should be strengthened.
