A swarm of bees have invaded an Early Childhood Development Centre at Wanbung in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region. Currently, the bees have hijacked the school building. The situation is making teaching and learning very difficult. Residents and Management of the school are concerned and are asking for intervention from the authorities and stakeholders to deal with the situation.

When the News team got to the school it was observed that the bees had invaded the opening and outlets around the roofing of the building making it difficult for classroom activities. The unfortunate situation had compelled authorities of the school to combine lessons for Nursery and Kindergarten.

Head Teacher of the school, Mohammed Alhassan Jahanfo told GBC News that the presence of the bees had forced him to use the school’s old and dilapidated structure for academic work for fear that the bees might attack the pupils.

The Christian Children Fund of Canada, CCFC, which facilitated the construction of the Early Childhood Development Centre is worried about the situation. It’s Public Relations Officer, William Anim-Dankwa, said the situation needed urgent intervention

For now, academic work is being hampered due to the presence of the bees. Stakeholders are being called upon to help address the problem to enhance effective teaching and learning.
