Biennial international conference on engineering held in Sunyani

The 2nd International Conference on Engineering, Applied Sciences and System Modeling has been held in Sunyani.

The Biennial Conference aims at bringing together Researchers, Engineers, and Science Practitioners with interests in advancing applied and engineering sciences in modeling to exchange their experiences and expertise in solving global challenges.

The Conference is sponsored by the International Organization for Science and Engineering in Africa and hosted by the University of Energy and Natural Resources in partnership with the University of Quebec and the of University Lorraine.

The Conference offers an opportunity for researchers, engineers and enterprise managers, among others to put forward innovative ideas to tackle global challenges, explore potential synergies and foster cooperative research grants applications and business partnerships.

The Conference in Sunyani had in attendance Students from UENR and other Universities in and out of the Country, Officials from the Ministry of Energy as well as both local and International Lecturers.

Speaking at the Conference an International Relations Officer, Kondo Hloindo Adjallah said Africa needs the power of Engineering and innovation to help people live in a more comfortable environment.

He stressed that solutions Africa’s Environmental challenge is here in Africa.

A Lecturer at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand Susana Krumdrieck, made a presentation on Transition Engineering, which basically deals with resolving unsustainable activities.

In an interview with Radio Ghana She shared her thoughts on how Transition Engineering could be applied to waste management in the Country.

For his part the Founder of Silicon Valley Ghana, Dr. Thomas Mensah stressed that Ghana needs to take the proposed high speed train project serious as it will revolutionize movement of goods and services.

He also advocated the use of solar to power cold stores for agricultural storage.

He revealed that plans are far advanced to establish an Aviation Hub in Kumasi which will serve the whole of West Africa with the Maintenance and repair facilities for aircraft which is currently done only in Ethiopia.

Other presentations at the Conference include challenges and opportunities of demand side management and smart grid, promoting renewable energy and technologies for rural development.
