The Upper East Regional Police Command, in collaboration with the Military, has conducted an intelligence-led operation in the Binduri District following recent shooting incidents and other firearm-related offences.

The police revealed in a facebook post on Thursday, September 4, 2026, that during the operation, a 32-year-old suspect, Isaka Sabani, alias “Culture,” sustained gunshot wounds and later died.

The security team retrieved one AK-47 assault rifle loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition from the suspect.

According to preliminary investigations, Sabani was wanted in connection with an attempted murder and unlawful discharge of firearms case reported at the Bawku Police Station on August 28, 2026.

Police also suspect him of involvement in shooting incidents recorded at Agenda 111, Aniisi and Gumyoko in the Binduri District on August 29, 30 and 31 respectively.

The Upper East Regional Police Command said it will continue working with other security agencies and stakeholders to identify and arrest other persons linked to the incidents.

The Command said the efforts are aimed at bringing the perpetrators to justice and maintaining security, law and order in the region.
